Nest Monitor

Having always been an avid birder and photographer, I was very excited when DCR erected an Osprey nest platform out in the Belle Isle Marsh back in 2018. I had reason to become even more excited when The Friends of Belle Isle Marsh donated funds to erect a web cam above the nest back in 2021 so we could watch the Ospreys during the nesting season.

I volunteered to monitor the nest activities via the web cam and have learned a lot about their habits (the good and the bad) during the past 5 nesting seasons.

While they have not been successful every year, they have raised 7 fledglings since the platform went up. 

That said, I’ll be sharing updates about them more frequently here for you to follow along their journey.
