Osprey Nest Camera
The 2026 season is underway and the osprey mating pair has returned to the nest!
On April 24th, 2026 we were able to see three eggs in the nest from the camera view. Sadly, on the 26th, the eggs were no longer in view. A review of camera footage did give us a clue of what might have happened. Another Osprey pair was seen trying to take over the nest. Ospreys fiercely defend their nest and in the process, the eggs are at risk.
DCR Biologist Sean Riley inspected the nest on the 27th and confirmed that the eggs were broken and buried beneath the nest material.
While this is indeed unfortunate, we are hopeful that it’s still early enough in the season for the pair to produce more eggs. They have been seen since at the nest site displaying courtship behavior.
Only time will tell.
